Mosquito control for your yard

Elora’s Lawns treats yards for mosquitoes across Geauga, Portage and Summit counties so your family can take back the backyard, with the safety of kids and pets first. Treatment works best with one habit on your side: once a week, empty anything outside that holds standing water, the step the CDC recommends.

Take back your backyard

Say goodbye to mosquito bites and reclaim your outdoor space. Our mosquito control service targets disease-carrying mosquitoes around your yard while putting the safety of your family and pets first.

It pairs well with a lawn plan: one local, family-owned company looking after the whole yard.

“I’m also excited to enjoy my backyard fire pit without mosquitoes.”

Where mosquitoes breed in a yard

The CDC’s advice is simple: once a week, empty and scrub, turn over, cover or throw out anything that holds water.

  • Buckets, toys and tarps

Anything that catches rain can hold enough water for mosquito larvae. Turn buckets over, store toys inside and pull tarps tight so they do not sag into puddles.

  • Flowerpot saucers and birdbaths

Empty saucers after it rains, and change birdbath water at least once a week.

  • Gutters and downspouts

Clogged gutters hold water for days. Clean them in spring and fall, and check that downspouts drain away from the house.

  • Pool covers, tires and low spots

Water on pool covers, old tires, wheelbarrows and low spots in the yard that stay wet for days are common breeding sites.

Why it matters in Ohio

Some mosquitoes in Ohio carry West Nile virus, and health departments test mosquitoes for it every summer. Fewer mosquitoes around the house means fewer bites, especially at dusk when families are out on the patio or around the fire pit.

When you are outside in the evening, the CDC recommends an EPA-registered insect repellent. Treating the yard and removing standing water cut down the number of mosquitoes you have to deal with in the first place.
